THE PISTACHIO HOUSE

Located on the Valensole plateau, amidst lavender, olive, and almond groves, La Maison de la Pistache invites visitors to discover a vast collection of pistachio tree varieties from all the producing countries of the Golden Tree.
Explore the 3,000-year history of pistachio cultivation, a shop with a selection of exceptional products, and a large bay window overlooking a pistachio ice cream workshop where you can enjoy ice cream on-site or take it away.

A SHOP AND AN ARTISANAL ICE CREAM WORKSHOP

The Pistachio House invites you on an enchanting journey, where every moment celebrates the love of this delicate fruit. Upon entering, simple black stoneware pots greet us, silent guardians of rare and precious vintages. They also preserve the teas and infusions from the secret gardens of the Queen of Sheba, who, according to ancient legends, had a true passion for pistachios.

Then, the pistachio counter reveals a surprising collection of varieties, each carrying its own flavor, terroir, and history.

Next comes the magical moment: on-site roasting, a true ballet for the eyes and nose, where pistachios dance under the heat, gradually releasing their roasted aromas and irresistible crunch.

Finally, artisanal ice creams of different vintages and origins gently conclude the experience.

THE PISTACHIO TREE VARIETAL COLLECTION

The Golden Tree

Funded by the association Act for Planet, this varietal collection, comprising the main recorded pistachio species, illustrates only a small part of the hundreds of varieties of this fruit tree, called the “Golden Tree” in the East for over 4000 years, and whose inventory is yet to be created.

Female species produce fruits of different shapes and flavors. Male species enable pollination (dioecious tree). The pistachio tree’s adaptation to poor and dry soils, as well as to new climatic conditions, marks the return of this tree to France, whose benefits and fruit taste were already appreciated at the court of King Louis XIV.
